The menu is diverse, featuring a range of flavorful options including standout dishes like duck, Moreton Bay Bugs, and vegetarian offerings. While the food quality is generally regarded as high with evident culinary effort, some patrons note minor concerns such as portion sizes or crispiness in certain sides. Overall, Pomegranate maintains a reputation as a reliable fine dining establishment with a welcoming atmosphere and a well-curated menu that satisfies a variety of tastes.
We booked online which was easy. Getting parking is also easy but it is street parking. We walked in and were seated instantly. They brought menus and explained the specials. We got the duck, a side salad and the lamb special. We also both got a coke. The server was very friendly and kept our water topped up. He helped us with any questions we had and checked on us. The food came out quickly and looked amazing. Unfortunately my duck wasn't really hot, it was just luke warm. However the flavours were pretty damn good. Portion size was okay but still small for the price. Overall the experience was positive but I really don't think the price matches the quality. Probably won't be back.
The chef really put the efforts to every dish !! Recommend duck ravioli, octopus and tiramisu!! I wish The twice cooked potato could be crispier
Located opposite the Kingston stops, Pomegranate restaurant is conveniently located with plenty of car parks in front and nearby. Staff are very friendly and welcoming, with the service warm, no fuss, and attentive for drink to ups. The menu is extensive and provides many options for both entrees and mains. The vegetarian options are note worthy and full of flavour. There is also a banquet option which will provide you with a tasting sampler of most of the entree and main options. Otherwise there are degustation and a la carte options. Seating is mainly indoors with a few tables available outdoors for warm summer nights. Definitely worth a visit for that special night out.
The waiter was a young guy who was very kind and attentive. He was lovely. Food was nice. I had a steak with mash, the mash was great but to little for the big steak. I was not happy with that considering that it costs $60.
Pomegranate has been a staple of the Canberra fine dining scene for decades, and after another great meal it’s easy to see why it continues to prosper. Service was timely and never intrusive, the dishes were superb, especially the Moreton Bay Bugs, and the bill was a pleasant surprise.
Excellent food, excellent service. It was such a nice change to dine at a restaurant where the staff actually seemed to care about service standards. Our young waiter was polite and attentive without being intrusive and the food was delicious and filling. It was a really nice atmosphere and I would definitely recommend it.
